The Podocarpus is a plant that is sometimes used to make a Japanese topiary that has been used in some special places. Here is a little bit of a description of what it is used for, how people care for the shrub and where it originates.

Artificial topiary balls are most popular for interior design.

The Podocarpus plant originates in Japan. It is part of any Buddhist temple garden and is used for meditation. It can also be shaped into other designs and has become very popular in yard design and more. Disney uses them in their famous parks for sculpting character shrubs around the park. They can be very hearty and grow fast, so it is perfect for lawn design and decoration.

What most people don't realize though, is that it even has medical uses as well in eastern medicine. Eastern medicine practices use this to heal ailments related to the heart, kidneys, and lungs. Just as a person can't practice medicine without a license, it is not advised that people try to use for themselves. If you are interested in it though, then you can find a person that knows how to use the Podocarpus as medicine.

While it is typically found in Eastern Japan, it can be grown in any other place. It does not require a lot of sunshine, so even a shady area is just fine for its growth potential. Many people like the Podocarpus because it is fairly stable and strong. It takes a lot to kill this shrub. It makes this the perfect choice for driveways and any other area that you want to create an attractive natural shrub path. Anyone can get started growing these and using them for design or shade. They are easy to take care of and are able to grow very large, making them a thrifty choice.
