Heather and I are settled in and unpacked at our new home! It's been a tedious, frustrating journey but we're excited to be closing one chapter and starting a new one. To commemorate this wonderful accomplishment Heather suggested that we purchase a fresh topiary plant that we can adorn our living room with. When I was a bachelor I never gave much thought into something like this so I had no idea where to begin.

Topiarytree.net has every live topiary plant a person could want and helped make our ordering process a breeze. Heather was having a blast browsing through their large assortment of products and made sure to call her friends to get feedback on which live topiary would suit our home best. I'm confident that this double ball topiary plant will make a wonderful conversation piece at our future dinner parties and get togethers!

This has been a learning experience for the both of us but I think we've come up with a great game plan for taking care of our new cypress lemon topiary plant. Here are some things that we've learned that we wanted to share with you in case you decide to purchase a live topiary of your own.

  • Make sure to keep the plant moist but be careful not to let the cypress plant drown in too much water. Pour water slowly on the surface letting it drain out from the bottom.
  • Placement is key! We were going to put our plant in the south facing window but we learned that causes it to receive too much light and heat. Instead we're putting it near the patio that faces the north and in the summer we can even put it on the balcony.
  • Good fertilizer is crucial while the plant is still growing but not if it's a stressed plant because this will damage the roots.
  • One great thing that we both love about having a fresh topiary plant is they generally don't attract insects! It's still important to monitor the plant for any signs of a bug infestation but if caught early on they can be removed very simply.
  • We're always remodeling so we wanted to make sure that our new plant is easy to repot. It is! Just make sure that you get a good quality soil that has good aeration properties.
  • The pruning is very easy to do! Use shears to trim around the edges, keeping in mind that the trimmed tips will turn brown only until the new growth covers them.

We're very excited to receive our amazing cypress lemon topiary plant soon and hope that our readers will be sure to check out topiarytree.com to buy a live topiary of their own!
