It is hard to find small, slow to grow, evergreen shrubs for the smaller landscape. Pieris japonica Bisbee s Dwarf is exactly that and more. Its dark green leaves are always attractive with a semi glossy appearance. In the spring the newly emerging leaves are reddish before they assume their adult color. An ideal candidate for adding to moss animal topiaries. The urn shaped flowers are plentiful and fragrant. They hang in dense terminal panicles that mature from the top downward. This plant was introduced by Mr. Horatio Bisbee of Ware, MA and was one of 2 seedlings that he purchased from a New Jersey nursery some time in the 1960 s. Seasonality is February and March. Measurements are around 3 feet x 4 feet Colors are White flowers Hardiness Zones: 5, 6, 7, 8
