Phlox subulata Allegheny Smoke

Phlox subulata Allegheny Smoke
Phlox subulata Allegheny Smoke
This creeping phlox has needle like leaves that are reminiscent of heathers. It forms a rounded, low mat which can reach a circumference of 3 2 inches in 2 years. Our friend Andy Van Hevelingen recommended it to us as a ground cover for a sun to part shade spot that tolerates some drought. An ideal candidate for adding to moss animal topiaries. It certainly has performed well in our gardens on a south facing slope that is exposed to the sun most of the day. This particular selection has unusual smokey blue flowers that are notched in the center of each petal. Seasonality is Spring and Measurements are around 4 inch x 3 2 inch Colors are Smoky Lavender Blue flowers Hardiness Zones: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
