Holboellia coriacea

Holboellia coriacea
Holboellia coriacea
Central China and Korea. Many of our customers want evergreen vines and we are always glad to point out the virtues of Holboellia coriacea to them. The vigorous climber lassos its way to the top with stems corkscrewing themselves onto trellis, branches and the like as they climb. The semi glossy leaves are composed of 3 leaflets and measure up to six inches in length. There are both male and female flowers on the vine. An ideal candidate for adding to moss animal topiaries. The male flowers bloom on the previous year's growth and are less visible. The female flowers bloom on new wood in corymbs of dangling bell shaped flowers. If your season is warm and long, you may find curious sausage shaped fruits about 2 1 and 2 inches long dangling from the vine. They are said to be edible. This is a big vine. Because it is evergreen, it can hold a lot of weight in a snowstorm. Be sure that your fence, trellis, or host tree or shrub is sturdy enough to accommodate the weight. Seasonality is Spring. Measurements are around 22 feet Colors are Greenish White flowers Hardiness Zones: 7, 8, 9, 10
