The dwarf Alberta spruce, also known as the dwarf white spruce, is a slow-growing, dense conifer, widely available at retail and garden centers throughout the US. This popular spiral topiary tree will eventually grow 10-12 feet high. To reach full maturity, this live spiral spruce topiary tree will take 25-30 years. Ideally conditions for growing this spiral topiary tree for zones 2-6. With a pyramidal form and soft, light-green needles the Alberta spruce provides a unique and breathtaking landscape addition. The spiral topiary tree can withstand a variety of extreme weather conditions including high winds, hot or cold temperatures and periods of drought. In addition, these can be pruned into ornate shapes. or grown in a container. 

Where to Grow

iral topiary tree requires full sun with partial shade, as well as well-drained soil. In cold climates, place your live spiral spruce topiary tree with a northern or eastern exposure. In order to allow unimpeded growth, allow for 3-4 feet from the trunk to adjacent structures. 

How to Plant
First, measure the soil in your container including the depth and width. Next, dig a hole all the way to the depth and widen it two to three times the size. Then, loosen up the soil around the sides of the hole. Make sure you do not loosen soil at the bottom. Lastly, mulch the spiral topiary tree with 2 to 4 inches of the shredded bark, in order to conserve moisture and prevent weeds. Ensure the mulch remains a few inches away from the trunk of the tree.

Care Instructions
The Dwarf Alberta spiral topiary tree requires little pruning to maintain their special shape. Look for for spider mites and treat before an infestation could potentially damage your tree. Water gently with a slow soak to endure the entire rootball is wet.
