Corylopsis pauciflora

Corylopsis pauciflora
Corylopsis pauciflora
At the end of winter, we await the arrival of warm colors in our garden. Corylopsis pauciflora provides just that. Our mature specimen produces an immense number of flowers. In addition to their welcome color, they also bring a delicate fragrance. This densely branched, medium sized shrub was introduced to the West from the Orient by Robert Fortune in the 1860 s. An ideal candidate for adding to moss animal topiaries. It has been a mainstay in large borders and winter gardens ever since. In the early spring, the emerging leaves are tinged with bronze. As they unfold, their ribbed pattern becomes pronounced, raying out on either side of their central veins. As a result, even though its leaves are small, as its botanical name suggests, the shrub offers textural interest through out the season until it drops its yellowing leaves in the fall. Seasonality is Early to mid spring. Measurements are around 5 feet x 8 feet Colors are Pale Yellow flowers Hardiness Zones: 6, 7, 8, 9
